A Measurable KPI Model for the Recruitment Funnel

Summary: Recruitment success is not only the number of hires. Track where candidates are lost, whether stages affect groups disproportionately, and whether hires succeed in the intended role.

Read the funnel as a system

Define reach, application, screening, interview, offer, and hire stages with explicit denominators, time windows, sources, and candidate segments.

Core KPIs

  • Application conversion.
  • Screening progression.
  • Time-to-hire with written start and end points.
  • Offer acceptance rate.
  • Time-to-productivity.
  • Quality of hire using pre-defined performance and retention outcomes.

Do not remove context

A channel can generate many applications but few qualified candidates or accepted offers. Compare role level, location, pay range, candidate experience, and labor-market conditions.

Fairness and candidate experience

Review stage progression by group while protecting small samples. Explain the process, expected timing, data use, and contact route. Speed should not replace candidate experience or explainability.

Conclusion

A measurable funnel is not about collecting more candidates; it is about a fair, predictable process that reaches the right person in the right time. KPIs support responsible questions; they do not make decisions alone.
